  • All students, Kindergarten through Grade 12, are eligible to submit student artwork for this contest.
  • No limit on entries.
  • Art Teachers, students and/or parents are eligible to submit their student’s entries. Each entry must be accompanied with the Parent Consent Form and the Online Entry Form to be eligible.
  • All 2D Artwork created by the student is eligible. All artwork received would be displayed on the Sargent Art website and social media pages.
  • Categories: Elementary (K – 5); Middle (6 – 8); High (9 – 12)
  • Theme: No theme – All 2D artwork created in the classroom is eligible
  • Deadline: May 15, 2018

Guidelines for digital submissions

  • Please download the Parent Consent Form, have it filled in neat, legible CAPITALS ONLY, signed by the parent(s) of the student and submit a digital photograph of the form before you submit the student artwork.
  • Only digital photographs of 2-Dimensional artwork are eligible for this contest.
  • NOT Eligible: Photographs, digitally created artwork and print-making using Inks
  • ELIGIBLE: Drawings, paintings or collage using any of the following or multiple media
  • Tempera paint, Acrylic paint, Watercolor, Liquid Watercolor, Finger paint, Powder paint, Crayons, Graphite Pencils, Colored Pencils, Oil Pastels, Chalk Pastels, Markers, Gel Pens, Chalk, Glue and Glitter Glue
Each submission must include the following –
  1. A digital photograph of the Parent Consent Form filled completely in neat, legible print and signed by the parent(s) of the student
  2. Online entry form filled completely
  3. Digital photograph of the student artwork in the appropriate format outlined below
Format for the digital photograph of the artwork –
  • While taking the photograph, the camera lens should be parallel to the artwork surface. Do not angle the lens as this distorts the image. Experiment with a variety of lighting to see what works best. Avoid camera flash back or images that are too dark. Fill the frame of the camera with the artwork.
  • For artwork that will fit on a bed of a digital scanner, scan the image at 100%.
Sargent Art requests that images are ONLY altered in the following ways –
  • Orientation: Work should be rotated properly so that a work is not laying on its side while viewing. Re-orientation during adjudication may not be possible, or may distort the dimensions of the image.
  • Cropping: Crop background other than the artwork
JPG Files
  • JPG should be captured by a 2+ mega pixel camera. Set camera for “fine” or “extra fine” resolution and not “web” or “normal”
    1. Image Print size: Each JPG file must be at least 1500 x 2100 pixels
    2. Image quality: Should be at 300 dpi
    3. File Size: Each JPG file should be no greater than 6 megabytes

Gift of Participation:

Sargent Art would send a Participation Gift to each school after receiving the following information from the school Principal (to be sent directly to Sargent Art via email – please click here to download the Participation form):

  1. Student enrollment number in the school
  2. Number of Art Teachers in the school
  3. Number of entries submitted to the 2018 Sargent Art Brighter World Students’ Online Art Contest.

Terms and Conditions

  • The Parent Consent Form must accompany all artwork.
  • All 2D student created artwork adhering to the submission guidelines is eligible
  • All aspects of eligibility of Artwork is final and binding by Sargent Art
  • Prizes (details, value and actual items) to be decided by Sargent Art – All decisions final
  • All prizes are non-transferable, non-changeable, and non-negotiable. No substitutions will be made.
  • Sargent Art reserves the indisputable right to change the terms and conditions of the 2018 Sargent Art Brighter World Online Art Contest and all or any aspects related to the said contest at any time.
  • The signature(s) of the parent(s) on the Parent Consent form and the submission of the Online Entry Form electronically will be considered a mutually binding agreement between the student, parent(s) and the person submitting the entry on the one hand and Sargent Art on the other hand to uphold and honor the abovementioned terms and conditions of the 2018 Sargent Art Brighter World Online Art Contest.
  • Prizes (value and actual items) to be decided by Sargent Art – All decisions final.
  • All prizes are non-transferable, non-changeable, and non-negotiable. Absolutely NO substitutions will be made.
  • International entries are NOT eligible for the Grand Prize.

*The cash prize of $1,500 to the Overall wining student would be awarded in the form of a personal check.

*All federal, state and/or local tax liabilities arising out of receipt and acceptance of the contest (cash) prize is the responsibility of the student and/or the parent and not the responsibility of Sargent Art. The winner and/or parent may be required to sign an IRS Form W-9/1099 or its equivalent in connection with the receipt and acceptance of the prize. To request an IRS W-9/1099 form from Sargent Art in January 2018, please email: artcontest@sargentart.com.

All decisions regarding details of the Art Supplies prizes (including but not limited to actual items, amount, value etc.) to be decided by Sargent Art – No requests will be entertained. The value of the art supplies prize is at M.S.R.P (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price).
